The Constipation Express: Everything You Need To Be A Pooper
Is Pooping Spiritual?
Both modern and ancient cultures have believed in toilet gods, a type of household deity, associated with health, well-being and fertility (due to the association between bodily waste and agriculture). Toilet gods of modern cultures have been referred to as atua, kawaya kami, takagamisama, setchinsan, usshimasam, cheukgansin. One tradition includes putting offerings into the toilet to protect the household's inhabitants from bladder problems in the coming year. In some variants of Buddhism, Ucchusma, the "god of the latrine" is said to destroy defilement, and a cult developed in Zen monasteries where the latrine, bath and meditation hall were regarded as the three "silent places" for contemplation.
In ancient Rome the sewer goddess Cloacina was the protector of Rome's sewage system. An early Roman ruler, Titus Tatius built a shrine to her in his toilet, and invoked her if the sewers became blocked or backed up. Later she was merged with the goddess Venus and was worshipped at the Shrine of Venus Cloacina in the Roman Forum. The Roman's toilet god, Crepitus, was also the god of flatulence and was invoked if a person had diarrhea or constipation. Stercutius - the god of dung or excrement, was particularly important to farmers when fertilizing their fields with manure. He had a close relationship with Saturn, the god of agriculture.
Finally - and possibly most important, if you've ever been constipated, you know what it's like to pray for a bowel movement. You will probably also agree that being regular is absolutely Divine. Based on historical and deep-seeded cultural significance, as well as basic human experience and observation, one can conclude that pooping IS spiritual. And as the adage goes, "Holy Crap"!
Poop Rituals
A ritual is an ongoing practice that is done at a specific time or times, either every day or on a day of significance. Since often times the cause of constipation is simply because we don't make the effort to take the time to go, a poop ritual could make a huge difference in getting and keeping you regular!
When planning your ritual, be creative. Below are a few suggestions to help get you started:
> Set aside some time when you won't be rushed or disturbed.
> Light a scented candle or incense.
> Chant the Poopers Mantra below.
Poopers Mantra
A mantra can be a syllable, word, or phrase that is repeated over and over to manifest intention and inspire balance, focus, and inner harmony. Our poopers mantra is easy to remember, and will be most effective when chanted outloud, from the time you drop your drawers to the time you wipe your bottom. Poop Gratitude
Gratitude, like all thoughts and feelings, are a form of energy. When in a state of Gratitude your energetic body is a state of harmony, which in turn affects your physical body. Taking time to think about what you are grateful for in your life will help to relax your body so you can poop – an experience that can really move you on all levels! AND, don’t forget to express a little gratitude for your poop before you leave the bathroom – you might discover that gratitude has more benefits than you thought the next time you visit the toilet.
